The Book of Kells and Medieval Manuscripts

Join Father Jose Cabrera for an exploration of medieval illuminated manuscripts focusing especially on the Book of Kells. The treasure of Ireland, the Book of Kells contains the four gospels in Latin, dating back to 800 A.D. It's a masterpiece of calligraphy with illustrations and ornamentations. Other manuscripts to be explored include: the Bamberg Apocalypse (ca. 1010), Biblia Pauperum (ca. 1240), the Cloisters Apocalypse (ca. 1330), and several devotional Books of Hours.
