The Adrian Dominican Congregation celebrates the dedication and commitment of 38 Sisters who in 2023 mark their Jubilees, their milestone years of service and dedication to the Church and the Congregation. The 2023 Jubilee Class includes eight Sisters celebrating 75 years; 19 Sisters celebrating 70 years; nine Sisters celebrating 60 Sisters years; one Sister celebrating 50 years; and one Sister celebrating 25 years.

Sister Dorothy (Lyle Joseph) Worthy, OP, is celebrating 75 years of religious life. A native of Imlay City, Michigan, she graduated from Imlay City High School in 1947 and entered the Adrian Dominican Congregation on September 8 of that year. She professed her first vows on August 11, 1949, and her final vows on August 11, 1954. Sister Dorothy earned a bachelor's degree in history from Siena Heights College (now University) in Adrian in 1956 and earned state certificates in education from Florida, Michigan, and Virginia, as well as certificates in counseling, adult religious education, continuing education, and pastoral ministry.

After early teaching assignments at schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit, Sister Dorothy came to the Diocese of Saginaw to teach at SS. Peter and Paul School in Ruth from 1955 to 1962. Since then, she taught at schools in West Virginia, Florida, Michigan, and Indiana. She spent her last years of formal ministry – 1981-1993 – as a caregiver. Currently, she resides at the Motherhouse in Adrian in the ministry of prayer and presence. “Religious life is strengthening my love for Christ,” Sister Dorothy said. “A religious vocation is a special calling to do something maybe only you can do to honor Jesus.”
