Applications to be Accepted for Permanent Diaconate This Fall

SAGINAW — Once every four years, the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw accepts applications from those who feel called to serve as permanent deacons. The diocese will hold an informational session for all interested men — and their wives if married — from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the diocesan Center for Ministry, 5802 Weiss St., Saginaw. Application forms for admission into the Permanent Diaconate Program will be made available at this session.

Interested applicants should plan to have completed at least two years of lay ministry formation by May of 2017 (or a degree in theology or equivalent). They are also required to have the support of their pastor or pastoral administrator. Completed applications will then be accepted until Nov. 15 of this year.

Those planning to attend the Oct. 11 informational session are asked to RSVP by contacting the diocesan Center for Ministry at 989.797.6607 or via e-mail at ckaczynski@dioceseofsaginaw.org. Additional questions may be directed to Rev. Thomas McNamara, director of the Permanent Diaconate, at 989.797.6662 or via email at diaconate@dioceseofsaginaw.org.
