"The U.S. bishops are consecrating the country to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (watch live June 11, at 4 p.m.) as a deliberate act of entrusting the nation to Christ’s love and mercy during the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
It is a bold proclamation that Jesus Christ must become the center of our wounded nation, and God wants his world back. By this consecration, we are asking the Lord to heal what is broken, to convert what is sinful, and to protect our country founded on Judeo-Christian principles.
In a time marked by division, anxiety, violence, and moral confusion, the bishops are placing the nation into the Heart of Jesus that was pierced for its salvation.
It also invites every Catholic to personal renewal and conversion in the Sacred Heart of Jesus."
There will be a Mass consecrating the Diocese of Saginaw to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 6:30 p,m, on Friday, June 12, at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption.
Why people should attend Friday's consecration at the Cathedral
"In this Year of the Holy Spirit for our diocese, this is a unique moment of grace for our Church, our nation, and every person who longs for renewal, healing, and hope.
This public consecration invokes graces that touch families, parishes, and society. Being present means receiving that grace personally. Because God works powerfully when His people show up for the Eucharist, one never knows what grace God intends to give you — but you have to be there to receive it.” -Bishop Robert Gruss
