Death Notice, Sr. Patricia Ann Radomski, SJ, July 16, 2024

Sr. Patricia Ann Radomski, SJ, died following a brief hospitalization July 16, 2024. Sr. Pat was born September 16, 1935 the third child and only daughter of Alex and Anna Radomski in Detroit, Michigan.

She attended St. Joseph Patronage grade and high school and felt the call to religious life from a young age as she witnessed the life and commitment of her teachers. Her mother found it difficult to think of her daughter becoming a sister so Sr. Pat waited to enter the Felician Congregation until her 21st birthday, making her final vows as a religious in 1964. She graduated with a BA from Madonna College, Livonia, and an MA from both Notre Dame and LaSalle University.

Sr. Pat spent the first years of her ministry in education as teacher and principal. Although she enjoyed teaching, she found herself drawn to a different path following a renewal program for sisters.

Drawn to prayer and ministering to others in spiritual direction, she started the Presentation House of Prayer in Detroit and later joined the retreat team at Queen of Angels Retreat Center in Saginaw. Her experience with the lay women and men she met there led her to begin ministry as a Parish Minister in several parishes: Resurrection in Standish, St. Helen in Saginaw, Visitation in Bay City, and Blessed Trinity in Frankenmuth. She served in this capacity for over 30 years, leading an RCIA program and initiating several support groups including widows, new mothers, and those living with grief. Her ministry extended to other programs in the Saginaw as well.

An important decision in Sr. Pat’s life was to enter the newly founded community, The Servants of Jesus in 1976. She said, “Here I experienced ‘new life.’ She often shared that she grew the most both personally and spiritually once becoming a Servant.” She served on various committees within the community and in leadership for a period of three years. She brought her sense of organization and history to the community, keeping volumes of pictures, meetings, and celebrations in wonderful order.

Sr. Pat retired from active ministry in 2010. Although experiencing health issues that restricted her activities, she never lost sight of other’s needs, reaching out to them especially through the cards she created on the computer for every occasion. These past few years, as a resident of Community Village, Saginaw, Pat brought a smile and presence to staff and residents alike. She treasured her life as a Servant of Jesus and was grateful for her 68 years as a woman religious.

Sr. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Ann Radomski and her brothers Gerald and Richard. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Vitina Radomski, nephews Douglas and David, nieces Karen (Al) Ciolino, and Paula (Mike) Nevin, three grand nephews, five grand nieces, five great grand nieces and one great grand nephew and her sisters in the Servants of Jesus Community.

Funeral Liturgy was held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State Street with Rev. Fr. Fred Kawka and Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit officiating. Memorials may be made to the Servants of Jesus, 821 W. Elm Ave, Monroe, MI, 48162.
