The Diocese of Saginaw is inviting Catholics to participate in Called by Name, a seven-day prayer challenge led by Bishop Robert Gruss on the Hallow app that encourages listeners to reflect on God's call in their lives.
The series shares real stories of people who encountered God's call in the midst of ordinary lives and were invited to pursue a deeper path to holiness. Through these stories, participants are encouraged to consider whether there is a call from God they may have overlooked, resisted or grown distant from.
Each day highlights a different vocation, including the priesthood, religious life, marriage, the diaconate and consecrated single life. The reflections show the beauty, sacrifices and blessings of each vocation while inviting participants to deepen their commitment to the vocation they are already living.
The challenge concludes with prayers for those discerning their vocation and encourages participants to ask the Lord to send laborers into his harvest (Matthew 9:38). On the final day, Bishop Gruss shares his own vocation story and reflects on how prayer, encouragement and personal witness can help others respond to God's call.
The Called by Name challenge begins Aug. 31 and is available through the Hallow app.
