Dr. Daniel Osborn Named Diocesan Theologian and Coordinator of Permanent Diaconate Formation & Ministry for the Diocese of Saginaw

The Diocese of Saginaw welcomes Daniel Osborn in his new role as Diocesan Theologian. Dr. Osborn has served in the Diocese of Saginaw since July 2011 as Director of the Center of Ministry.

In his new role, Dr. Osborn will work constructively with and serve as a resource to other members of the diocesan staff, regional vicars, and parish leadership to develop sound curriculum and accessible content at all phases of religious formation and education. He will assess theological content, presenters’ credentials, methodology, and spiritual approach of religious education programs, courses, and offerings in a variety of settings so that “through doctrinal formation and the experience of the Christian life, the faith of the people may be living, manifest, and active” (Canon 773).

Dr. Osborn will also serve as the Coordinator of Permanent Diaconate Formation and Ministry and as the Bishop’s Delegate in Ecumenical and Inter-Faith Relations, reaching out to other Faith Communities to nurture common understanding and mutual support.

Dr. Osborn served the underprivileged as a lay missionary in seven countries before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Doctorate in Systematic Theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum) in Rome, Italy. He also holds a Master’s in English from the University at Buffalo.

Dr. Osborn, his wife, LeAnne, a teacher at St. Brigid of Kildare School in Midland, and their two daughters are members of St. Brigid of Kildare Parish.
