We have so many activities and events happening in the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, our communications director John Gonzalez has created a new show – just for you!
On this weekend episode, he runs down details regarding:
- St. Joseph’s Church Summer Festival, noon-8 p.m., July 12 & 13, 936 N. 6th Ave., in Saginaw. Tons of food, including BBQ ribs and chicken, as well as Mexican food such as elotes. Activities for kids, live music, raffle tickets with great prizes, and more.
- ARISE Youth Fest, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. July 24 at Holy Family Parish, an event for our youth featuring keynote speakers, Mass, and adoration! This is for those entering grades 5-12 for a day of building up our armor of God to live the faith boldly in the world! More details at https://saginaw.org/event/arise-youth-fest
- Quo Vadis Camp Experience, July 31-Aug. 2; High school-aged men (those entering 9th-12th grades) with a variety of outdoor activities, including prayer time and fellowship. The camp is co-sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Gaylord. More details at https://saginaw.org/Quo-Vadis
- Seminarian Hot Dog Fundraiser, Aug. 10 at St. Athanasius in Harrison, presented by K of C council 7571. They will have a Seminarian serve at the 11 a.m. Mass as an altar server or a lector. Then, in the social hall during lunch, he is asked to give his vocation story, followed by Q and A. The parishioners donate a freewill offering, and the Knights match it.
Also, joining the show is Fr. Stephen Blaxton of St. Brigid of Kildare in Midland. He talks about:
- A new video his school produced to give a snapshot of what Catholic education is all about. Watch the video here: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/16f5UfuZ78/
- A special Mass at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 14, followed by a parish picnic, to commemorate the journey of French Missionary Fr. Henri Nouvel, who made it in 1675. He originally landed on Dec. 3 on Ojibway Island in Saginaw, where the first mass in the lower interior of Michigan was celebrated, then made his way down the Tittabawassee River to the forks in Midland. A Mass was held on Christmas Day. Fr. Blaxton is calling his event "One River, One Mission, Two Shores.” A Diocesan-wide mass is planned for next Spring at Ojibway Island. More details to come.
- Mobile Food Drive, Aug. 23, as part of the Jubilee Year of Hope, in the church parking lot. Check the church bulletin this weekend for more details.
