Father Marceau’s Funeral Mass to be Celebrated this Wednesday 

SAGINAW — The Rev. Emmett L. Marceau, a senior priest of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, died on February 16 in Bay City, Mich. Father Emmett was born August 2, 1941 in Alpena, Mich., to the late Leo and Dora (Boilore) Marceau. He received his secondary education at Catholic Central High School in Alpena.
 
Father Marceau received his priestly formation at St. Lawrence Seminary in Wis., as well as Mount Saint Mary Seminary in Md., where he studied philosophy, and St. John Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, Mich., where he studied theology. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 3, 1967 by the Most Rev. Stephen Woznicki, second Bishop of Saginaw, at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption in Saginaw.
  
Father Marceau served as assistant pastor at Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, Saginaw; St. Andrew, Saginaw; St. Joseph, Mayville; and administrator at St. Pancratius, Cass City. He was pastor of St. Elizabeth, Marlette; St. John the Baptist, Standish; St. Florian, Standish; Resurrection of the Lord, Standish; Our Lady of the Visitation, Bay City; and St. Helen, Saginaw. During his priesthood, Father Marceau also served as a regional vicar. He obtained senior priest status on July 1, 2011.
 
Father Marceau’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles St., in Saginaw. The Rev. William J. Rutkowski, Vicar General, will preside, and the Rev. John R. Johnson will preach the homily. The Rite of Committal will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, at Holy Cross Cemetery in Alpena.
 
Visitation will take place from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Helen Catholic Church. The Vigil Liturgy will begin at 7 p.m., and the Rev. Ronald F. Wagner, Vicar for Clergy/Pastor, will preside. Visitation also will take place beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of the Funeral Mass.
