Father Vincent Chukwudi Oguejiofor appointed parochial administrator of St. Peter Parish in Chesaning and St. Cyril Parish in Bannister

CHESANING, Mich. — Father Vincent Chukwudi Oguejiofor has been appointed parochial administrator of St. Peter Parish in Chesaning and St. Cyril Parish in Bannister, effective July 1, 2026.

In a reflection on his new assignment, Father Oguejiofor described the appointment as a reminder of God's providence. Raised in rural Nigeria, he recalled following his grandmother through the fields as a young boy and said it is fitting that his ministry has now brought him to two farming communities in Michigan.

"My journey has taken me across Africa, Europe and North America," Father Oguejiofor said. "Everywhere I have served, I have discovered the same truth: people long to be loved, heard, accompanied and encouraged in their faith."

Father Oguejiofor expressed gratitude to Bishop Robert Gruss for the appointment and thanked parishioners of St. Peter and St. Cyril for their warm welcome. He said he looks forward to growing with both parish communities in faith, serving Christ with joy and helping build communities where everyone knows they belong. He added that he feels blessed to call the Diocese of Saginaw home.
