CCHD’s focus is to combat issues that go against the human dignity of the poor through community organizing and economic development throughout the United States. The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is the domestic anti-poverty, social justice program of the U.S. Catholic bishops. Its mission is to address the root causes of poverty in America through promotion and support of community-controlled, self-help organizations and through transformative education. Every year, 25% of the monies collected for the national CCHD collection remain here in the Diocese of Saginaw. These funds are used to help those local entities that work towards moving people out of poverty with education and opportunity. These funds may not be used for direct aid or for food security. The application period is now open through January 23, 2026.
