Peter Herbeck of Renewal Ministries will speak on the Holy Spirit and the sacraments during an upcoming Catholic Diocese of Saginaw event on November 11 at the Center for Ministry.
In a this podcast, Herbeck emphasized that the Holy Spirit is not merely a theological concept but a person who invites Catholics into a deeper relationship with Jesus. He explained that the sacraments are more than familiar rituals: they are real encounters through which God gives grace, transforms lives, and strengthens believers for mission. Herbeck also addressed the challenge many Catholics face after Confirmation, when faith can become routine or disconnected from daily life. He encouraged listeners to recognize the quiet promptings of the Holy Spirit and respond with trust. “A yes to Jesus and yes to the Holy Spirit is always a good thing,” Herbeck said. “It always leads to more life, more truth, more happiness, more freedom.”
The event will explore how the Holy Spirit works through the Church’s sacramental life and how Catholics can move from simply practicing their faith to living it with renewed expectation.
