SAGINAW— On Tuesday, May 9, religious, civic and community leaders and faithful from throughout the Diocese of Saginaw and beyond gathered for the Dedication Mass at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption in Saginaw. During the Mass, the Cathedral walls and altar were blessed with Sacred Chrism, and two first class relics, one of St Pius X and the other of St. John Neumann, were placed in the body of the altar. During his homily, the Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, shared his prayer that the Cathedral "be a symbolic call to all within the Diocese of Saginaw to see ourselves as God's temple, to renovate those aspects of our lives which have drawn us away from the Lord, restore those aspects which draw us ever closer to Jesus and to one another, and empower us to become true missionary disciples who not only follow Jesus Christ but proclaim His message to all."
