People from all over the Midland/Bay City/Saginaw area gathered at Saint Brigid church in Midland to celebrate Good Friday. The group numbered around 150 and included people/families of all ages. The event began with Stations of the Cross at 3:00, continued with a Cross walk in surrounding neighborhoods at 3:45 and ended with praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet back at the church. As the group walked in the neighborhood around Saint Brigid, several prayer requests from bystanders were written and placed on the large wooden Cross near the altar. These intentions were offered up with the Divine Mercy prayers. The prayers and the Cross Walk was led by Rev. Andrew Booms (Pastor St. Brigid), Deacon Aloysius Oliver (St. Brigid) and Rev. Adam Maher (Sacramental Minister Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish and Chaplain in Campus Ministry).
It was a beautiful sight to see so many people come together to honor and remember the sacrifice of Jesus on this holy day. The prayers offered for those in need during the Cross Walk were a reminder that we are called to love and serve others, just as Jesus did. Overall, it was a powerful and moving experience that left many feeling renewed in their faith and grateful for the opportunity to come together as a community.
