To the People of the Diocese of Saginaw:
Please join me in thanksgiving and gratitude to God for the gift of a new Holy Father. The Cardinal-electors, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, have given the Roman Catholic Church Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as the Bishop of Rome and Successor of Peter.
Throughout all of Christian history, the Lord Jesus has provided the Catholic Church with a shepherd to meet the needs and challenges of the current times. We welcome Pope Leo XIV as he begins his ministry shepherding the universal Catholic Church.
As every pope has done, he will bring his own gifts, talents, and perspectives in guiding the Church into the future. We pray that Pope Leo XIV will unite all people in love for one another despite our differences and perspectives and be an inspiration to Catholics and non-Catholics alike. We pray that he will be a true witness to hope in this Jubilee Year of Hope.
