Youth Participate in Annual JP2 Summer Gathering

The annual John Paul II Summer Gathering brought together young people from the Diocese of Saginaw and Archdiocese of Detroit on Wednesday, July 24. About 60 youth enjoyed a day of friendship, service and fun in the event, which follows the example of Pope St. John Paul II, who as a priest would take young people on canoeing, skiing and camping trips to teach them about the Faith and simply be present. The day began with a service project leveling headstones and beautifying Sacred Heart Cemetery. After canoeing and tubing down the Cedar River, the youth attended Mass at Sacred Heart Parish, followed by a barbecue and games.
