One of the priests in the report, Stanislaus Albert Bur, was ordained for the Diocese of Grand Rapids in 1950 but incardinated into Diocese of Saginaw in 1971. He was suspended from ministry in October 1992. He received a permanent suspension of faculties in November 2005. He died on Feb. 1, 2009. More information about his assignments can be found on the Diocese’s website.
The Catholic Diocese of Saginaw remains committed to fully cooperating with state officials as they continue their investigation. Also, we are committed to complying with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People established by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in 2002.
“I want to express my deepest sorrow to those who have been victims of abuse by members of the clergy, whether in this Diocese or any other diocese,” said Bishop Robert Gruss. “Please accept my sincere apology for the pain and suffering you have had to endure resulting from your own experiences. None of us will ever know the depth of the pain that survivors endure.”
