COME HOLY SPIRIT!
It's been an exciting two months since Bishop Gruss proclaimed a special Year of the Holy Spirit on May 24 - from Pentecost 2026 to Pentecost next year. Over the last two months we have have been:
- Listening to some incredible talks during our monthy series of Exploring the Holy Spirit. The last one attracted 139 people. Replays are available on our Holy Spirit page.
- Attracting a sizeable audience for our Tuesday morning virtual bible studey with Fr. Jose Maria Cabrera's look at Acts on the Apostles. This week he had about 50 people join him. His live online course, which is free, is from 7-7:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. All the videos are available for replay on our website and YouTube.
- And checking out the merchandise in our new, online Year of the Holy Spirit store.
We also quietly announced that those who attend our monthly talks, in person, will receive a special commemorative Holy Spirit Challenge Coin. (Shhhhh. More info on that soon.)
Now, the BIG news!
This week we have confirmed that three national speakers will be presenting as part of our monthly series.
- Dr. Mary Healy, author and noted Catholic Bible Scholar, will speak on "The Holy Spirit in the Life of Mary" on Oct. 14.
- Fr. Mathias Thelen, co-founder/president of Encounter Ministries, will speak on "The Fruits and Charisms of the Holy Spirit" on April 14.
- Julianne Stanz, a national author who has presented in the Diocese in the past, will close out the series on May 12, talking about "Evangelization and Discipleship in the Holy Spirit."
- The next presenter is Fr. Stephen Blaxton on Aug. 12 ("Saints of America's Founding and the Holy Spirit"), followed by Nick Jorgensen of Missio Institue ("The Holy Spirit in the Early Church") on Sept. 9.

ANOTHER BIBLE STUDY
Also on our special page, we have added another Bible Study. Fr. Alberto Vargas , Pastor, Judicial Vicar and Chancellor of the Diocese, will be doing his own Bible study on Acts of the Apostles, Aug. 19-Oct. 28, over eight weeks at his church, St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Saginaw.
