Student Turns Miles Into Big Money for Her Catholic School

An Elementary School Student At St. Joseph The Worker School In Beal City Raised More Than $13,000 For Her School During The Month Of May.

Avery Gross, who recently completed fourth grade, wanted to raise money for her school while the building was closed this spring due to the pandemic. She decided to walk 100 miles in May. She took pledges and donations on a per mile basis, as well  as straight cash donations. “She is an example of stewardship and faith in action,” said school principal Mary Hauck. “Her parents have instilled this in her by their example. We are very proud of Avery.” The money raised will go toward the purchase of new textbooks for social studies.
