Our purpose is: to unite Catholic women’s organizations and individual Catholic women in the diocese, to develop their spiritual growth & leadership potential, and to motivate and to assist them in acting upon current issues in the Church and society.
The SDCCW is composed of parish affiliates and individual members. We are part of the Detroit Province CCW, which includes all seven dioceses of Michigan. St. Paul the Apostle Council of Catholic Women, Ithaca
On June 1, 1952, the first Mass for our parish was celebrated in a downtown building. Within the following month, the first Altar and Rosary Society was formed. On November 8, 1953, the first Mass was celebrated in our newly built church. The Altar and Rosary Society donated the Stations of the Cross for that church. Today, these hang in our current church, completed in 1969.
In 1976, the ladies voted to change the name to St. Paul the Apostle Council of Catholic Women. We are members of the Saginaw Diocesan Council of Catholic Women and the National Council of Catholic Women. Our ladies are active participants of SDCCW and NCCW activities and conventions.
Since 1952, our ladies have supported the parish by fundraising dinners, rummage sales, Mother/Daughter and Father/Son banquets, funeral dinners, receptions for new parishioners, leading the rosary before Mass, sending cards to the homebound, sending youth to Catholic camps and Right to Life Marches, providing meals and gifts for needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas, etc. Purchases by our St. Paul CCW have been processional cross, liturgical necessities, classroom carpeting, kitchen stove, freezer, kitchen utensils and equipment, figures for outdoor nativity scene, etc.
