Funeral Mass for Deacon David Kasprzyk to be celebrated in Muskegon

Deacon David Kasprzyk, age 74, died on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Loretta, two daughters, Katherine (Steve) Hayes, Cheryl (Damon) Coslow, and four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Andrew, Alina, Bronte; and his sister, Mary Jo (Douglas) Macaulay. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was ordained to the permanent diaconate in the Diocese of Saginaw on July 12, 1981 and moved to Muskegon County, in the Diocese of Grand Rapids, in 1985 where he served the parishes of St. Mary of the Woods, Our Lady of Grace, St. Thomas the Apostle, and Sacred Heart. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #13035.

He was the youngest permanent deacon to be ordained for the Diocese of Saginaw at 34 years old, and would have celebrated his 40th anniversary as a permanent deacon this month.

Arrangements for Deacon Kasprzyk are as follows:


Visitation – Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m. at:
St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church

Mass of Christian Burial, Bishop Walkowiak presiding – Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 11 a.m. at:
St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (see address above)

Interment will take place at: St. Michael Cemetery in Brunswick.
