God cares about us and walks with us when we are in pain.
The Grammy award winning song, “Bless the Broken Road,” speaks of how God is right there with us in our struggles. The song resonates with many people. Its message leads us to the heart of the Christian Faith: Jesus came to be with us in our sufferings, struggles and sinfulness. He came to help us right where we are.
The name “Jesus” literally means: “He who saves,” and that is what he wants to do for each of us. The Church is called by the Lord to continue his mission of mercy, a reality that Pope Francis recently highlighted: “The thing the Church needs most today is the ability to heal wounds and to warm the hearts of the faithful; it needs nearness, proximity. I see the church as a field hospital after battle.”
