SAGINAW— As pilgrims from across the Diocese of Saginaw stand up for life during the 44th Annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., a family from Bay City, Michigan shares their story and message that "Every life matters." Ken and Melissa Davert, members of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish in Bay City, are sharing their family's story with diocesan pilgrims via video produced by the Diocese of Saginaw. The video will be viewed tonight as pilgrims spend the evening learning more about the sacredness of human life and the issue of abortion.
Melissa Davert, who has a brittle bone disease known as Osteogenesis imperfecta, discusses how she and her husband, Ken, were encouraged to abort one of their unborn twins during her pregnancy, due to potential complications related to her disease. She and Ken refused. They share their amazing story of faith, trust in God and love for life.
Led by the Most Rev. Joseph R. Cistone, Bishop of Saginaw, more than 350 pilgrims, mostly teens, joined the March for Life today to raise awareness to the more than 58 million babies who have been aborted since the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion.
