Father Josè Maria Cabrera to be recognized for support of Catholic Schools

Father Josè Maria Cabrera, pastor of All Saints Parish in Bay City has been named a recipient of the Father John B. Zwers Award by the Michigan Association of Non-Public Schools (MANS), an advocacy organization for over 400 schools in Michigan.

The award recognizes members of the clergy with a strong history of support for faith based schools.

“May the award be for the glory of Jesus and for the good of our All Saints Catholic Schools," said Father Josè Maria Cabrera.

'A true blessing'

"Father Josè has been a true blessing to our students and staff here at All Saints Central schools," said Lisa Rhodus, principal of All Saints Central Elementary and Middle/High School in Bay City. "Our students and staff know that Father Josè supports our schools, and he demonstrates that through Mass, his wonderful homilies, his presence, and his interaction with our students.

“He has made such a positive impact on our school, for example, taking the time to talk to our second grade students while they are preparing for their Sacraments, taking their class on a tour of the church, blessing the rosaries our fourth grade students made, or being at so many of the special events we hold throughout the year. In addition, during Covid, Father Josè added two more Masses to his weekly Mass schedule to ensure our students could celebrate liturgy as a school. We feel so blessed to have Father Jose! We love him!”

Father Josè will be recognized during an award presentation on Oct. 15 at the MANS Administrators’ Conference in Thompsonville, Mich.
