Jason Rasmussen, long time parishioner of Holy Spirit Parish in Shields, named information technology manager for the Diocese of Saginaw

On Sept. 13, the Diocese of Saginaw welcomed Jason Rasmussen as its Information Technology (IT) Manager.  In his position, Jason manages, plans, directs and oversees activities dealing with computers and information systems.

“Working for the Diocese of Saginaw will allow me to combine my technology expertise with my desire to serve the Catholic Church,” said Jason.

Jason has been a parishioner of Holy Spirit Parish in Shields for over 40 years and actively serves on the parish council, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) team, liturgical ministry, and the Knights of Columbus.  He became a Commissioned Lay Minister in October 2020.  Jason also served and provided technology expertise for diocesan events such as the Installation Mass for Bishop Gruss, Lay Ministry Assembly, Disability Awareness Conference, and Evensong.

Jason will coordinate activities related to the hardware, software and network used by the Diocese and its parishes.  Jason will also be responsible for the overall performance of electronic networks and lead the IT department in fulfilling all diocesan information systems requirements.

Jason spent the last 20 years with the Saginaw Intermediate School District (SISD) in the Technology Department where he was responsible for network administration, technology support, systems administration, project management, and cybersecurity.  He also provided support for and coordinated many major projects including:  Storage Area Network, VMware, and data backup implementation for all Saginaw county schools to use, Google Workspace implementations, network electronics replacements, wireless network replacements, server migrations, and other county wide initiatives.
