March for Life Pilgrimage Cancellation

The Diocese of Saginaw 2016 March for Life Pilgrimage has been cancelled.

The send-off Mass originally scheduled for 8 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Shields has also been cancelled.

The National Weather Service is forecasting blizzard-like conditions for Washington, D.C. and the surrounding area. They are warning people of potential life-threatening conditions  Friday night into Saturday night. Travel is expected to be severely limited if not impossible during this time.

We don't underestimate the disappointment of the participants resulting from the cancellation of this event. However, our primary responsibility is the safety of the 300 plus students and adults who would be traveling with us, as well as the peace of mind of families and faith communities.

This was not an easy decision to make, but it is one that we believe is in the best interest of our youth and families. Participants will receive a full refund of their registration fees.

We are grateful for your efforts to protect and promote the life and dignity of our most vulnerable.

In the coming days we would encourage you to pray for those who are able to march in Washington, D.C. Pray also for an end to abortion and that the love and mercy of God will touch the hearts of our legislators and all those affected by abortion.
