Presenter Vetting Process Required for
Parishes, Catholic Schools, Affiliated Organizations, and Diocesan Offices
(Click on arrows to follow the process or download this PDF flowchart of the process)
I wish to invite a presenter for a workshop, program, retreat, mission or class
within the Diocese of Saginaw that touches on faith, spirituality or morality.
What do I need to do?
BEFORE finalizing their visit and BEFORE publicizing their visit:
Is the presenter a priest, deacon, DPL, religious, diocesan/parish/Catholic school staff member,
or a parishioner invited by his/her own pastor or DPL?
If this initial form is approved, a letter of suitability is then required.
1. For priests and deacons from outside the Diocese of Saginaw, their chancery or religious institute must send a letter of suitability on their own letterhead no less than 90 days prior to the presenter’s visit to:
Chancellor, Diocese of Saginaw
5800 Weiss St., Saginaw, MI 48603
or e-mailed to chancellor@diosag.org
2. For laity from outside the Diocese of Saginaw (including Religious), their pastor, chancery or religious institute must send a letter of suitability on their own letterhead in a timely manner prior to the presenter’s visit to:
Diocesan Theologian, Diocese of Saginaw
5800 Weiss St., Saginaw, MI 48603
or by e-mail to: vetting@diosag.org
Please note: Only when the letter of suitability has been received and approved by the Diocese of Saginaw can the presenter’s upcoming visit be publicized.
If this initial form is approved, a letter of suitability for the lay presenter is then required -- unless the lay person has been invited to present by his or her own pastor or director of parish life. Otherwise, if this is not the case, the lay presenter's own pastor or director of parish life must submit a letter of suitability on their parish's letterhead in a timely manner to:
Diocesan Theologian, Diocese of Saginaw
5800 Weiss St., Saginaw, MI 48603
or by e-mail to: vetting@diosag.org
A template for the letter of suitability for lay presenters may be found here.
Please note: Only when the letter of suitability has been received and approved by the Diocese of Saginaw can the presenter’s upcoming visit be publicized.
