If you are a single parent, you are not alone. Nearly a quarter of all American children live in a single-parent household, the vast majority (85 percent) of which are headed by women. Each single-parent household has a different story, since not all come to single parenting the same way. What they have in common are the joys of parenting coupled with the challenges of doing it alone. They also may experience added guilt from the Church’s emphasis on the “traditional” nuclear family. However, single-parent families may also experience the benefit of a caring community and a spirituality that carries them through tough times.
There are many resources for Catholic parents, single or married. Please see the Catholic Parenting page for tips and ideas.
