The History of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saginaw

Ever wonder who was the first Catholic pastor who served the Great Lakes Bay region? Or when the first Catholic church was formed in the Saginaw Valley? How about where the original location of your parish was? Or are you just trying to remember the name of the priest who celebrated Mass with your classmates when you attended one of our Catholic schools? Well, look no further, as the Archive office of the Diocese of Saginaw has answers for you!

Powered by ArcGIS, "Great Lakes, Great Faith" offers an opportunity for users and fellow history connoisseurs to travel back in time and learn more about the diocese's roots and the folks who made up the Catholic communities in the Great Lakes Bay region. The project currently has a little over one hundred slides, made up of parish histories, bishop biographies, decade maps, and more! Instructions and introductions on how to navigate the site are located on the first slide of the map. You can check out this project by Scrolling below or by goin to: https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/6e00b7db3e434278999cc523bd5abde4

Note: This is an ongoing project. Not all parishes are currently in the slides, including those in Saginaw (city). We will be providing regular updates to this project, including adding parishes and histories over time. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
