Beth Bauer Named Vicariate Liaison and Coordinator of Marriage and Family Life Ministry for the Diocese of Saginaw
Beth Bauer has accepted the position of Vicariate Liaison and Coordinator of Marriage and Family Life Ministry. In her new position, Beth will be the human bridge between the resources of the diocesan offices and an assigned vicariate, its parishes, and lay leaders with respect to pastoral resources. As a Vicariate Liaison, Beth, will have direct parish contact including attending the assigned vicariate meetings, listening to and assessing needs within and among vicariates. As coordinator of Marriage and Family Life Ministry, she will work with other members of the Parish Life and Evangelization team and parish leadership to prepare employees and volunteers desirous of participating in Marriage and Family Life formation to deepen their knowledge of and commitment to the Faith and the Sacrament of Marriage. She will also be responsible for securing services of qualified advisers in marriage preparation and enrichment programs to provide support in outreach to couples, especially attentive to the challenges facing families and marriages; integrating natural family planning and pro-life resources and provide on-going programs and educational opportunities for retreats, seminars, and periodic assemblies; and regularly communicate with parish leaders in order to maximize the gifts and talents of individuals working within this area of marriage and family life ministry.
Beth and her husband, Larry, currently live in Ypsilanti but plan to relocate to the Saginaw-Bay area. They have three adult children and are active members of Christ the King Catholic Church in Ann Arbor. Beth has past experience as a crisis phone counselor for Family Life Counseling Services in Grosse Pointe, MI; a presenter along with her husband for Retrouvaille, a program for teaching marriage and family life skills in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Canada; and also a site leader for Rachel’s Vineyard, a post-abortive retreat ministry in Ann Arbor providing emotional, psychological and spiritual healing for women, men, and married couples who struggle with the grief and pain of abortion. Beth is looking forward to serving in this ministry to help couples and families as they journey together in a covenant with our Lord and each other.
Beth will transition into her new role effective October 11, 2021.
Peg McEvoy Named Vicariate Liaison and Coordinator of Faith and Catechist Formation/OCIA for the Diocese of Saginaw
Peg McEvoy has accepted the position of Vicariate Liaison and Coordinator of Faith and Catechist Formation/OCIA. In her new position, Peg will be the human bridge between the resources of the diocesan offices and an assigned vicariate, its parishes, and lay leaders with respect to pastoral resources. As a Vicariate Liaison, Peg, will have direct parish contact including attending the assigned vicariate meetings, listening to and assessing needs within and among vicariates. As coordinator of Faith and Catechist Formation, she will work with other members of the Parish Life and Evangelization team, regional vicars, and parish leadership to design educational and formation programs for catechists and parish leaders; consult with leaders in designing parish-based programs for children and family-based formation; with faith formation in diocesan events and offerings; and partner with parish leaders to maximize the gifts and talents of each catechist.
Peg has been with the Diocese of Saginaw for seven years as Coordinator of Faith Formation. In this role she was responsible for the formation, training and catechetical support for parish leaders and Catholic school teachers. She accompanied parish catechetical leaders in the discernment of program needs as well as their personal giftedness and challenges, resources and collaborated with pastors, directors of parish life, the Superintendent of Catholic Schools, principals, parish faith formation leaders and diocesan colleagues
Peg will transition into her new role effective September 1, 2021.
Lori Becker Named Coordinator of Diocesan Outreach for the Diocese of Saginaw
Lori Becker has accepted the position of Coordinator of Diocesan Outreach. In her new position, Lori will serve as a resource to our parishes in order to advance the social mission of the Church. As the Coordinator she will assist parishes throughout the Diocese in helping identify and attain the common good of their civic community by putting Catholic social principles to work. Diocesan outreach will focus on education, planning, and collaboration with and among parishes for food pantries and mission stores; rural life ministry; pro-life advocacy; prison/juvenile detention ministerial care, aftercare, and family care; mental health support services; and other specialized ministry as determined by parishes.
Lori has been with the Diocese of Saginaw for more than five years as Respect Life Coordinator. In this role she ministered in partnership with parish leaders, the chancery office staff, and surrounding communities both within and beyond the diocese to promote a Catholic culture of life supporting the life, dignity and rights of the human person from the moment of conception to natural death.
Lori will transition into her new role effective September 1, 2021.
